Blog Update - 31/01/11 - Transitions

Today we have started to edit the film further. I have selected some transitions to join certain clips together. These transitions we used were mainly cross blurs and fade to whites, these all fit quite well. However, when looking back over the genre research I undertook before, I noticed that only a couple of the opening sequences I analysed used transitions and these were mainly fade to whites and cross blurs. The others didn't use transitions and only use clips cuts.

 To continue editing we need to re-arrange some of the footage as the order doesn't quite fit together. Also, I need to over-dub the music and an effect of an audience cheering and making noise like in a dance show audience. This will help to create effect and make the sequence look more professional.

This is a screen grab of the opening sequence we have edited today. We cut down a lot of the footage and added in effects such as transitions. I have re-arranged some of the footage to make it fit better and look more professional.

As a group we decided to change one clip of Vikkie and myself dancing to little snippets of all the characters dancing. This is because the original clip didn't look right and didn't really fit in with the over all look of the film. We have converted some clips to back and white or grey to create effect. This was helped by the fact we researched that some existing openings were in black and white and we feel it looked effective. We have also slowed down the clip of my back flip as it creates tension and effect for the audience.

Rough cut - 24/01/11

In today's lesson, my role was to upload the footage fro the camera and start to fit the scenes into the right place. I started to arrange the footage and edit in the titles and some effects.

I have learned how to use LiveType, i have also
learned how to add effects to the footage and adjust edit the scenes.

we have changed some ideas.  We were going to use LiveType for one of our titles, but due to complications we changed this idea and used titles from iMovie. We also changed the order of some footage to fit in better with the voice over and the music.

To finish the sequence, we still need to cut down some of the clips, changed the colour of some, over-dub the music for the dance scene as it is distorted and and in transitions, effects and more titles/credits.

Blog Update - Filming Process - 17.01.11

So far we have finished creating and editing our voice over for the opening sequence. This was originally done on camera, but the quality was not the best so we recorded it in the studio. It was recorded with Vikkie, Yasemin and myself. We recorded Vikkie saying the script over the top of a piece of music in the studio and I added effects after like echoing certain words and syncing it in with the music.

Vikkie and Yasemin filmed part of the opening footage where there is a shot of dancing feet whilst the film titles appear. This was filmed on site in the school grounds.

This week we plan to film the rest of our footage; behind the stage, in the dance studio and the opening sequences that were planned off site. This should be done by the end of the week (weather permitting).
