“Everyone has history. Everyone has things they have to fight through in life. Some serious. Others more psychological. Either way, life can be hard. When someone has a passion, a drive to succeed in something, they will take no mercy in getting there. People often do something as a form of distraction to get through these tough times. A lot of people turn to dance. Many start from the streets, but turn out to be the most out standing dancers in this world…”

The camera goes to a shot of a set of drawn curtains. We see dark silhouettes waiting behind the closed curtains.

Even on the most important night of their lives, the characters still bicker and argue behind the closed curtains. Low lighting (SHOT REVERSE SHOT):

DAVID'S VOICE:
"You don't deserve to be here. Giving up 'cos of injury. True dancers fight through it, not just give up!"

VIKKIE'S VOICE:
"Oh shut up. I'm the one who got you here. If it wasn't for me, you'd probably be dead on the streets!"

DAVID'S VOICE:
"Oh you know what, screw this. I can't be bothered. You are pathetic. I'm gone!"

LONG SHOT and tracking shot as David starts to walk off.

STEVE'S VOICE:
"What you doing you idiot. Get your arse back here!"

Steve moves towards David, grabs his top and pulls him back. David turns round to Steve and pushes him backwards.

DAVID'S VOICE:
(MID SHOT) "Get your hand off of me."

David pushes Steve's hand off of him. They then start to get confrontational.

STEVE'S VOICE:
"OR WHAT!? (laughs) Get your fucking act together now."

DAVID'S VOICE:
"Don't swear at me."

STEVE'S VOICE:
"FUCK OFF YOU PRICK."

David lashes out and punches Steve in the face. They start a violent fight when Vikkie runs over and attempts to pull them apart but gets hit in the process by David.

STEVE'S VOICE:
"You twat. You just smacked a girl."

DAVID'S VOICE:
"She aint much of a girl! You're more feminine than her!"

Steve and David both go into confrontation mode and start square up to each other.

VIKKIE'S VOICE:
"OII! (pushes them apart) You're both idiots, just shut up! Sort yourself out and get back over there, we've got a show to do! We've come so far if you don't want this then fuck off, you ain't ruining my dream."

Steve and David both sort themselves out and muffle under their breath.

STEVE VOICE:
(muttering) "We're good, we're good...sorry yeah"

DAVID'S VOICE:
"Let's just do this yeah?"

Vikkie pushes the guys over to their positions.

We start to see the curtains open and the camera then flicks to the audiences point of view, as we see the dance troupe step out onto a lit stage and begin to dance. We then see the footage start to slow down and shudder.

Outline of 'Live 2 Dance' - 07/12/10

The opening sequence for 'Live 2 Dance' starts with a black screen. A slow piece of music starts to play and red text zooms in from right saying; 'V-DAY Productions', gets to centre, slows down and then zooms out on left. 'Proudly Presents:' then appears in from top and zooms off the bottom. A shot of feet dancing slowly fades in from black. 'Live 2 Dance', in  graffiti styled text, appears over the top of the dancing feet. After about 10-15 seconds of footage, this clip fades out and a close-up shot of the dancing character appears. With this, the named credits appear of the actor/actress and who they are playing. After all the main characters  credits have gone off screen, the screen will fade to white. After this we begin with the end. The shot opens with the dance group standing, waiting behind closed curtains. The curtains open, the stage is full of bright lights and the music starts to play as soon as the curtains open. The camera then reverses so you see the dance troupe come out onto the stage and begin to dance.  After 20 seconds of the dance, the footage starts to flick and quickly fade in and out. This footage fades to white. The film then goes to footage of the main character from when she first finds herself in trouble and how she decides to fight through it and create the ultimate dance troupe.

Treatment Re-Write 07/12/10

Live 2 Dance
An original screenplay by Vikkie, David, Andrew and Yasemin.
7th December 2010

V-DAY Productions proudly presents a musical drama/dance film about a young lady who has a passion about going far in dance, so tries to create the ultimate dance group. She teams up with other passionate dancers in order to achieve her ambition and compete in the biggest dance competition possible in the UK; 'Live 2 Dance'.

As the story unfolds, there is various conflicts as all of the characters dance and fight for themselves, not for the future of the group. The main character gets injured during rehearsals and the group all turn wanting to ditch their main dancer. But through the hard times, they pull together and dance as one unit.

Through drugs, fights and gang-warfare they all pull together to dance as one solid unit, even though their relationships and the groups future does not matter to them, only their own personal goals and achievements.

For the idea of our film, think 'Step Up' meets 'Dirty Dancing'. The idea where feuding families and characters fight through it, pull together and dance together.

V-DAY Productions plans to set 'Live 2 Dance' in various locations like parks and clubs in Dagenham and London, and use the different characters - our lead teen female, the fighting teen males, and the drug addicts, in order to create the desired effect of competition and dispute, but also the feeling of co-operation when they put their differences aside to succeed in life. Live 2 Dance is targeted towards a demographic composed primarily of young females in their teens, but will also appeal to males who enjoy dance.

With the approval of the Executive Producer: Miss O'dell

What conclusion can you make about your findings? What do they tell you?
- We found out that the main audience of dance films are females who are 16 or under. The majority prefer to see a mixture of styles in these films rather than just one style, but with the majority of street dance. The majority of the people who answered were in a relationship, and they like to see a little bit of romance within the film. Dirty Dancing was the biggest hit out of our list, followed by Step Up and then Honey and Footloose were tied. Out of the people asked, 80% of them like to see competition between the characters. They regularly go to the cinema and half of the people asked have or do dance.

Who is your target audience?
- Our target audience will now be teen and young females who like dance. However, we cannot single out that small majority of the public so we will still have to make it viewable for all audiences.

How are you going to make your opening sequence appeal to your audience?
- We are going to use the genre conventions they like. These include use of typical costumes like trainers, baggy trousers or combats and t-shirts or vests. We will have to include different characters that will have a different background. There will be a bit of competition between the characters, as this is what our research told us the audience would like to see.

Is there anything else you need to know about your target audience?
- If we need anything else, we could benefit from knowing what exactly the audience, i.e. what sort of characters they like to see, the type of storyline they like, where and how they want the dancers to dance and what styles they would like to include in our film.
